Cleansing 101

The start of a new year is often associated with new beginnings and fresh starts. Many people take this opportunity to make resolutions and set goals for themselves, realistic or otherwise. One common resolution is to improve one's health and wellbeing, but where do you even start?

A great way to kick off a healthier lifestyle is by doing a cleansing diet. A cleansing diet involves eliminating certain foods from your diet and focusing on clean, whole foods. This can help rid your body of toxins and improve digestion. Common foods to eliminate during a cleansing diet include processed foods, sugar, caffeine, and alcohol. Instead, focus on eating fresh fruits and vegetables, fewer grains, and lean protein.

2023 was a heck of a year for my health. I caught Covid for the third freakin' time in January, and even though I seemed to recover fine initially, it was only a couple of weeks afterwards that I realized I was in it for the long haul with overwhelming fatigue, brain fog, neurological issues, pain... By August, I was only getting worse and adding symptoms to that list. Worst of all, my body wouldn't sleep. I would lay in bed, unintentionally pulling all-nighters, desperate for a few hours of sleep, with no real rhyme or reason as to why. I was taking magnesium, melatonin, l-tryptophan, drinking herbal sleep teas, doing calming breath exercises. Nothing was working! I was no longer able to work or function much at all, and I knew I had to make a drastic change. I started juicing vegetables 2-3x a day, added in smoothies, salads, soups, as many fruits and vegetables as I could consume in one day. While I did eliminate gluten, dairy, and all of the foods mentioned above, I wasn't focusing so much on what I couldn't eat, but what I could eat to support by body and brain. I was amazed at the results! Even though I haven't seen a difference in my energy level yet, most of of my other symptoms vanished within 2-3 weeks (and I lost almost all of the weight I had suddenly gained after Covid)! It truly felt miraculous.

"I was no longer able to work or function much at all, and I knew I had to make a drastic change."

For me, I jumped ALL in. My life had come to a complete stop, and I knew I had to make a drastic change. But when it comes to goals for the new year, keeping it simple may be more practical. If you want a simple plan you can follow, tune in with me and others Thursday, January 25th on Zoom for a free 1-hour Cleansing 101 class. I'm going to be a fly on the wall, and I invite you to join me. RSVP using the submission form on this page, so I can send you the link. See you in class!

Let's get to cleansing!
